Instead of eating three large meals during the day, one of the easy ways to lose weight is to break things up a bit more, and try to eat about 4-6 smaller meals each day. This is a good idea because it keeps your stomach processing food moreÂ regularly, your blood sugar levels steady, and it will reduce the amount of snacks you want to have.
Similar to your body retaining water because it is not getting enough, it may be retaining fat because it doesn’t have a steady stream of nutritious foods coming in. Once your body understands that it will always have nutritious, satisfying food coming in, it may be more willing to start getting rid of the fat and your motivation to lose weight will grow!
Schedule Your Meals
I do have a busy schedule, so although I try, my meals aren’t always at the same time.
By scheduling them, I always know when my next meal is coming.
Why is this important to my food lovers diet?
If I happen to be out and about, and I am hungry, I will already know when my next meal is scheduled, so I may hold off on a snack if I have scheduled time to eat in just 20 minutes.Â Not snacking just before a meal is one of the easy ways to lose weight.
What if I’m hungry, and I know I just ate 20 minutes ago (it was in my schedule, remember?)Â Having a schedule also helps me recognize I am eating out of boredom on those not so busy days! â€“ I just drink a big glass of water and find something to do!
Take your own food with you to avoid eating out.
You can use this as a general rule, but I mean primarily to the office / work.
This reduces your food costs and the food you prepare for yourself will be healthier and lower in calories.
In order for you to do all this, you must plan your meals.
Uggh! I know, I know.Â You are trying to break habits that have been with you a long time.
Planning your meals means you wonâ€™t suddenly be caught without healthy food, and decide to go to a drive through.
This also means you will always have healthy snacks available.
Shopping while you are hungry, or without a list, means you will buy junk food. If planning a week ahead is too much, just plan for 4 days. Then, on day 3, plan for the next 4. (Donâ€™t wait until day 5 when the cupboards are bare, and you are hungry!).
Pick 4 breakfasts, 4 lunches, and 4 dinners.Â Then buy lots of celery, carrots, and cucumbers to snack on!
